All visitors to Hong Kong must have a passport that is valid for at least six months after the planned departure date from Hong Kong. Nationals of most countries do not require visas and can stay for periods varying from 7 days to 180 days.
Australian and New Zealand passport holders can enjoy visa-free entry into Hong Kong for a period of 90 days. Those who wish to stay longer must apply for a visa at least six to eight weeks prior to departure.
Effective from 1 May 2019, applications for visas for Hong Kong from persons holding foreign ordinary passports in Australia are handled by the Chinese Visa Application Service Center. Contact details of Chinese Visa Application Service Centers are listed below:
Applicants from Northern Territory should submit their applications to the Canberra Center and applicants from Tasmania should submit their applications to the Melbourne Center.
