Adelaide welcomes the Year of the Snake with HKETO
|The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) welcomes the Chinese New Year through a series of receptions held over the next three weeks across Australia and New Zealand, starting with celebrations in Adelaide this evening – Monday 11 February 2013.|
“The Chinese New Year is one of the most significant events in the Chinese calendar and it’s encouraging to see the Adelaide community embrace and celebrate it so warmly,” said Steve Barclay, Director of the HKETO.
In conjunction with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Tourism Board and Invest Hong Kong, HKETO will invite business, community and political leaders at each reception.
The celebrations will begin with the Adelaide reception moving on to Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, finishing in Canberra.
“This year’s celebrations help to remind Australians of the diverse business, arts and cultural opportunities Hong Kong has to offer and how it really is the gateway into China and the rest of Asia,” said Steve Barclay.
“As we move into a new year, Hong Kong’s role in helping Australia navigate the Asian Century will only become more evident.
“Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, C Y Leung, recently laid out plans to extend the city’s reputation as a financial, economic and cultural hub. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of business opportunities and cultural exchanges between Australia and Hong Kong in 2013.”
