Welcome to the home page of the Hong Kong Government representative office in Sydney. Our job is to promote Hong Kong in Australia and New Zealand, and to develop the best possible relationships between Hong Kong and both countries. This involves not only business, trade and investment but also educational links, arts, culture, sports and so on.

Hong Kong is a great place to do business. Located at the southern gateway to one of the largest and fastest growing economies in the world, Hong Kong is the comfortable, familiar and low risk entry point for anyone looking to do business with mainland China. It is also a substantial market in its own right. Doing business in Hong Kong couldn't be easier. There are no barriers to trade, no restrictions on investments and no foreign exchange controls. We have the rule of law, an independent and fair judiciary, a low and simple tax regime, English as the language of business, our own currency - the Hong Kong Dollar - which is fully convertible, and one of the world's leading financial and banking centres. The Government is committed to providing the best possible environment for business, ensuring that regulation of business is no more than necessary.

I hope that you find this website useful in providing the answers to any questions you may have about Hong Kong. If not, contact me direct.

We have also recently launched a new facebook page 'Hong Kong in Australia and New Zealand'. The new page is intended to provide a virtual focus for Hong Kong-related activities, events, photos and gossip in Australia and New Zealand. Keep up to date on activities and events by becoming a fan of our page at Feel free to post information and photos about your own events.
