FS attends G20 Leaders' Summit in Hangzhou

The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, today (September 4) attended the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders' Summit in Hangzhou as a member of the delegation of the People's Republic of China.

The theme of the G20 Leaders' Summit this year is "Towards an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy", under which there are four key priorities, namely "breaking a new path for growth", "more effective and efficient global economic and financial governance", "robust international trade and investment" and "inclusive and interconnected development".

The meeting today discussed the latest economic situation, and how economies can strengthen policy coordination and support global economic growth through various tools, including monetary and fiscal measures as well as structural reform.

After today’s meeting Mr Tsang also attended a welcoming dinner for the delegates.

Mr Tsang, as a member of the delegation of the People's Republic of China, also joined the Business 20 (B20) Summit yesterday (September 3).

Over the years, the B20 Summit has hosted policy discussions with focuses dovetailing with those of the G20 Leaders' Summit and has developed recommendations through special workshops for the G20 Leaders' Summit on maintaining strong, sustainable and balanced growth in the global economy. It provides a platform for the international business community to participate in global economic and financial governance and international trade regulation.

Mr Tsang will continue to take part in the G20 Leaders' Summit and meet with counterparts of other countries participating in the G20 tomorrow (September 5).

Yesterday (September 3), Mr Tsang, as a member of the delegation of the People's Republic of China, also joined the Business 20 (B20) Summit.

Over the years, the B20 has hosted policy discussions with focuses dovetailing with those of the G20 and has developed recommendations for the G20 on maintaining strong, sustainable and balanced growth in the global economy. It provides a platform for the international business community to participate in global economic and financial governance and international trade regulation.

Tomorrow (September 5), Mr Tsang will continue to take part in the G20 Leaders' Summit and meet with counterparts of other countries participating in the G20.
